Capote talks about Perry’s so called superstitions. Perry apparently can tell when something bad is going to happen; Perry feels that this is one of those times when something bad is going to happen. Capote mentions this in the book to give us a clue about what is going to happen next. In the book Capote tells us that Perry has had a history of knowing when bad things are going to happen to him. This wouldn’t be relevant unless something bad was going to happen to them. Capote added this to his book to warn us that they will either get caught or something very unfortunate will happen to them. The point of Dick and Perry’s whole conversation, on page 90, was to let the readers know that revenge is waiting and will come. Capote was leading up to the fact that Perry and Dick were going to be punished somehow and Perry knew it.
